Bath Time Fun

02.03.13: I know, I know. I am a horrible blogger. I swore to blog more frequently starting a month ago, and here I am posting my first blog of the year. And what perfect timing! I am currently in the midst of midterms :)
Anyway, I recently attended an apartment crawl in which the theme was bath time fun. Upon hearing of this theme, I had no idea what to wear other than a towel, and that was definitely not going to happen. I could picture a lot of not-so-good things happening...But with the help of my Pinterest addiction and friend, I decided on dressing like a loofah. Plan? Check. Execution? Hmm...Initially, my friend and I tried looking for tutus but had no luck. Tutus ranged from $22-$74, and as a broke college student, I was not willing to drop that much dough. We ended up wandering around City Target (which is so disappointing compared to my beloved, original Target), and at one point, I was desperate enough to persuade my friend that we would be able to fit into a dress made for a five year old. I still think we could. But, alas, we decided to just buy loofahs and try working with them. You know what they say. If you're going to be a loofah, you gotta be the real deal.

D.I.Y. Loofah Costume (or Ghetto Tutu)

Materials:

  • 2-3 loofahs (We used two, but if you want more poof, you should use three)
  • Scissors
  • Belt
Instructions:
  1. Unravel the loofahs
  2. Cut the loofah material into strips of a desired length
  3. Rip a hole in the material
  4. String the strips onto the belt
  5. Revel in your success in making a quick loofah costume/ghetto tutu
To be more like a loofah, you can also take the string/tag and tie it to yourself and make the extra material into a hair accessory!
